Vaccines for newborn babies

Hello babies, Apparently after your baby was born, doctor will recommend you to take these three types of injections for your little one:-

Vitamin K

Vitamin K helps the blood to clot and prevents serious bleeding. In newborns, Vitamin K injections can prevent a now rare, but potentially fatal, bleeding disorder called 'Vitamin K deficiency bleeding' (VKDB) also known as 'haemorrhagic disease of the newborn' (HDN)

BCG

BCG (Bacille Calmette Guerin) is a vaccine given to babies to protect them from serious forms of Tuberculosis (TB) such as TB Meningitis (an infection of the brain) and Miliary TB (Wide spread infection)

For this vaccine, it takes 4 weeks or more for it to works,Once your baby reached 1 month old, you will notice at his/her upper left arm a red bump (like a mosquitoes bite) and it will keep on growing until it pop a yellowish fluid and automatically it becomes a scar. Which is a good thing and means that the BCG works on your baby, if it did not pop then you should be worry and your baby might need to take this vaccine again.

Hepatitis B

The Hepatitis B shot helps to protect your child from potentially serious disease. Children with Hepatitis B usually don't have any symptoms but they may pass the disease to others without anyone knowing they are infected. Also it helps your child prevent from developing liver disease and cancer from Hepatitis B. Lastly, keeps your child from missing school or child care.

Parents, no worries ok , I took these three vaccines for my baby too and Alhamdulillah he is doing fine with it, no side effects, no fever, and he is perfectly normal. If you have any doubt about this, please do discuss it first with your healthcare.

Someone new is in your home!

Tadaaaa, now you can go home with your baby! Excited right?! hehe,
At first, you may feel a bit haywire on what you have to do first, well, take it easy, We know its not easy to take care of newborn , just do not stress yourself out, you just gave birth and you should take care of yourself too, give time to yourself and take it slow.

Hubby, now is the best time for you to involve in this new routine, help your wife too.
Your wife is in a very weak condition now, she can't walk properly, she has lost so much energy while giving birth to your precious little one, just give her some time to relax first and you may help her with all the housework duty, cook for her, wash all the dirty clothes, clean up the house, take care of the baby and also not to forget take care of your wife too. At this stage, your wife need a lot attention from you, just be there for her! I'm so glad my hubs took care of me while I was in my confinement for 44 days. Thank You Husband, I love you!

After the first few days getting use to settling down with your baby, you will understand the routine, it takes time to understand your baby, sooner or later you will get there! baby and you need time to understand each other.

First time Mom preparations

Hello first time mommies! Welcome to Motherhood!!

Since you already know the sex of your baby in 2nd trimester and now is the time for you to prepare your baby stuff before he/she arrives!

What are the things you need to buy for your first baby?? hmmmmm....As for me, I did a lot of research in finding the good brands of each product for my little one, It was hard to decide which one is the best and long lasting. Lucikily, friends and families help a lot by sharing their experiences so I finally know which to buy! hehe

Diaper

I didn't buy any diaper during the first three weeks because I receive a lot of FREE samples before deciding on which brand to buy, one of the brands I received was 'Mami Pokko', 'Drypers', 'Huggies', 'Genki', 'Offspring' and other brand as well (I can't remember the names)

So , after my baby turn 1 month old and have tried all brands on him, we finally found out which are not suitable for my baby, they said not all diapers are suitable for your baby, it depends on their skin too, some baby tend to rash a lot because of their skin sensitivity, some baby are okay with any kind of diaper, so it really depends.

As for me, We have finally choose "Huggies" , why? what I heard, baby boy tend to peed and pooped  a lot, some of the brands I have tried leaked a lot but with Huggies it minimize the leaking (it still leaks but out of 20 times a day changing , perhaps only 3-4 times leak)

Newborn change A LOT!!! so try to use cheap diaper first, in my experience for the first two weeks my baby pooped every feeding time, as he grows 4 weeks old, he pooped once or twice a day but still peed a lot which requires a numbers of changing. For me Huggies are affordable, RM 30( plus) for over 80 pieces diapers.

This is Newborn size and later when he is reaching 1 month old, we changed sizes to S

Currently we are using this, Size S and 80 pcs for RM30 (plus)

Milk

Speaking about this gives me a goosebumps , the price of milk is super duper expensiveeeeeee. Due to some reasons I have trouble to breast feed my baby, So I had to mix both breast milk and formula milk.

The milk that we are using is Enfalac A+, This milk is quite costly and we are buying 180gram for RM189 which we get three boxes of milk inside one box. So far, our baby is not allergic to this milk, he's been pooping normally and he totally love this milk!

Enfalac A+ step 1 (0-12months)

Breast Pump

You can buy breast pump if you are planning to breast feed your baby fully, Since the pricing of breast pump are also quite costly, you can try to look for best deals or any promotion to save up a little.

I have been using 'Spectra - M1' as this is recommended by all the doctors and nurses , it is made in Korea and the pricing is not too expensive like 'Medela'.

We bought 'Spectra M1' during baby expo in Mid Valley, which cost us for RM 499 for double pumping, two bottles and five level of suctions.

Wet Wipes

A LOT and A LOT and A LOTTTTTT of wet wipes!!

We have been using 'Pureen' wet wipes for 100pcs, Usually this brand offers a great deal, recently we bought 2 for RM 11.90 only and you need zillions of it!

Baby Cradle

Not many people wants their baby to sleep in their own cot but as for myself, I would like to train my baby to get use to sleep at his own space, besides both me and my partner afraid if we put the baby one bed with us the pillows or blankets might covers up his face without us noticing it.

To be safe, it is always best to have his own bed. I have decided to buy a smaller cot which is light, foldable and easy for travelling. 'Pouch' is the brand we have decided to get for our baby, We bought it for RM 399 only (N/P: RM 499).

The best thing about this cot is I can turn the cot into a swinging mode or stay mode by just turning one of the parts upside down. Also, the nets are see through which is easier for me to monitor my baby during my sleep and it is standard level as your bed (the disadvantage of this product is you are unable t adjust the height of the cot) .

Baby's Clothing

Newborn tend to grow super fast, so my advice is try not to buy many newborn clothes, you can still buy it but not too much. Now my baby is 1 month and a few days old and all his newborn clothing is a bit too tight for him, luckily we only bought a few of them, phewww.

Mittens, socks and hat are very important for newborn babies, they are still small and take times to adapt with new surrounding, their hands and feet need protection! some people against babies to wear mittens , that is mostly because of their long sharp nails which can cause scratches on their face.

For Swaddle, I love 'Swaddle Me' brand, because it is an instant swaddle and it is so much easier compared to the manual ones, My baby hate to be inside the swaddle

For newborn clothing, try to find a soft material that is comfortable for the baby to wear. Also you may need to buy a swaddle so that the baby feels safe as if someone holding them throughout their sleep.

Baby's Grooming Kit

Not everyone highlight the importance of this grooming kit, Once your baby out from our tummy the baby have a very long nails, so you need to cut it straight away to prevent scratches

Other than that, hair brushes is needed once your baby freshen up his body and time to play with his hair! hehe

Also not to forget thermometer! this is very important for newborn babies, mommies gotta invest a bit on this to get an accurate reading of your babies temperture. I bought 'Microlife' brand for
RM 150 at Guardians drug store.

Baby's Stroller / Carrier

Oh god this is the most headache part, I am sooooo confuse on which best stroller to buy, At first I wanted to get 'Doona' Stroller, but then when I tried it, I felt its too lowered and it can only be use for 0-12 months old.

I am looking for a stroller that can be use for a long period up until 0-5 years, then later I found 'Joie' Stroller 'Meet Pact'. What I like about this stroller is, it is light and easy for me to carry around, also it is easy for me to fold the stroller , and lastly it also comes with a carrier!

Stretch Mark Cream

It's my first time to use this product, I heard 'Mederma' is well known with smoothen or lighten scars, So I give it a shot to try out 'Mederma' Stretch Mark Cream. Hope it works! and please be gone stretch mark!! ohh the smells of this cream is very calming too ~

Baby Warm Cream

This cream to help babies from colic, coughing, flu, Asthma and Phlegm, it helps to warm up babies bodies and babies will feel so relax and no worries the heat from this cream is very light and suitable for babies, 100% safe! My baby loves it very much! I will apply it every time  after changing diapers to prevent from colic (specially!)! This 'Tropika' cream is very well know among mummies, one cream will cost you for RM 39.90.

So far these are the things that I think will help you out with your newborn babies!
Don't be stress, enjoy every moment of it and have fun taking care of your newborn!!!

The Final stage, 3rd Trimester! Hello Baby!

Now this is the last stage of pregnancy, enjoy every moment of it because trust me you will be missing talking to your tummy at night or even eat as much as you can without feeling guilty over your big round stomach

Make sure to do as much reading about pregnancy before your baby's arrival, this will help you to prepare mentally and physically. Raising a newborn obviously a tough job for every first time mum (I am one of them!) why? because we don't know why our babies crying over and over again, wondering if your baby in pain? is he still hungry? is it colic cause the pain? why this and why that, but itsokay take deep breathe and relax for a few seconds to clear up your mind, you will be doing just fine! trust me I've been there and done that, I am still learning day by day to understand my baby.

Since this is the last stage of your pregnancy, I would like to congratulate to every moms out there for passing by the first two's trimester, on this very last trimester is the wonderful part, your baby is going to meet you soon!

Tick tock tick tock, Baby is coming! look out for all the possible signs for your baby's arrival such as water breaking, blood show and frequent contractions.

At first I am so confused on how contractions feel like, some said like a period pain, some said like a zillion times harder period pain feeling, and some said you will definitely know that is contractions. Later, when my time comes, oh god! yes! I definitely know that is contractions for sure!

During labor, my water didn't break but I am having a blood show, at first few hours a little blood came out, but later a blood covering up the whole panty liner, I was worried if something bad happen to the baby and I quickly rushed to the hospital and was immediately checked in in delivery room. Apparently after all the check ups, the nurses said I was dilated for 1cm ONLY, but my contractions are so strong but not consistent. They said if you are so close to labor, your contractions must be consistent and strong. So, doctor advice me to go back home and do a lot of walking for a smooth delivery.

We did went back home and later in the evening we went for a walk for an hour duration. I also climbed many stairs to put a little bit of pressure for it to dilate more. At night, I noticed I am having a frequent contractions and not so strong, also my panty liner filled with blood again. So we rushed back to the hospital, and doctor said I am 2cm dilated. I was admitted in the hospital on 1st April 2018. While waiting for me to dilate fully to 10cm, I can say from 1cm -4cm is a bearable pain, it is still painful but you can handle it by taking a long deep breathe and breathe out slowly (this really works!).

After I am reaching 5cm, goshhh the pain is unbearable and I couldn't take it, I feel like pushing the baby out at 5cm but the nurses told me not too because it could damage my sensitive area. After a long hours bearing the pain, I have finally decided to take two types of pain relief, at first I am trying on 'Laughing gass' they said it can help you reduce the pain and makes you feel relax but nope! totally doesn't work with me!! So I decided to take 'Epidural', it works like magic! my lower body parts immediately feels numb and I totally don't feel any pain from the contractions, while waiting for me to dilate fully, I am able to sleep for 2 hours before the shows start!

After almost 20 hours in labor, My baby is finally out from my womb with normal delivery and he was born on 2nd April 2018 at 1.50am. Seeing him for the first time its truly a wonderful moment ever!

My baby was born in Tropicana Medical Centre (TMC) in Kota Damansara, if any of you would like to deliver in TMC, I would recommend my wonderful doctor, Dr Nurhazinat. She is awesome, she will do the best she can to make sure you are having a normal delivery. She so calm and relax throughout the delivery process. I couldn't thank her more for everything she did for me and my baby. Our monthly check ups also went well, Dr Hazinat will make sure your body is in a good condition before the baby arrives!

Also another doctor I would recommend is Dr.Navdeep, He is also one of the best doctor (through my experience). When I fell sicked quite badly during my first trimester, Dr.Nurhazinat wasn't around by that time and I had to meet up another specialist, so one of the staff recommended me to meet with Dr.Navdeep. He is also very calm and pleasing, he will explain carefully and gently to you of what's gonna happen, he is also very nice, Thank you for taking care of me too doctor!
I just love both of them!

Mommies, It may sounds or look scary, but trust me if I can do it, so do you! just trust your instinct and do what's the best for you and your baby. You can do it! All the best Mommies!
